I want to take Ron Paul seriously as a candidate. He says a lot of things that are certainly mainstream, and he has ideas that should be heard, not only online, but also need by those doddering masses that only pay attention thirty days out from a general election. But this latest gimmick (and it's not from the Ron Paul campaign) is a bit much.
Too Many Gimmicks for Ron Paul?
I understand that Paul supporters try to say that they think outside of the box. I get they are willing to try almost anything to get people to pay attention to their point of view and 'wake up America' as they like to say.

But a blimp? It's so easy to poke fun at Paul's campaign right now and this gives critics a target the size of a football field and full of hot air slowly moving through the sky to mock. Supporters actually seem ecstatic that the whole gimmick may get off the ground and fly.
There is no one that is actually going to take a look at this thing and decide 'there's my guy,' I'm going to now seriously consider this man to run the country. It's a laughable exercise and is really not helpful at all.

And when weather forces this flying billboard from the sky it will really give detractors ammunition. I get the frustration Paul supporters are feeling. They believe that he can do no wrong and is the only hope to save America from itself.
But after Iowa and New Hampshire many of the also rans on the GOP side will have to drop out and if Paul can stick in the race, he may then have a chance to move up and have his voice heard.
