Patrick Swayze is preparing for the end of his courageous battle against deadly pancreatic cancer with a living will that has been drawn up, a report from the National Enquirer claims this week. The brave actor has also already said a touching farewell to Lisa Niemi, his wife of 32 years.
According to the report, as part of the actor's final preparations, he has been reaching out to those closest to him - particularly wife Lisa, whom he married in 1975. He wanted to make sure he said goodbye to her properly, in case the worst happens, so he decided not to wait. *** "Patrick told Lisa, 'I will always love you, and can't imagine how my life would have been without you,'" revealed the friend. "It was very touching, and it is part of his final farewell to his wife as the end draws closer." According to the report published in this week's edition of the magazine, the 55-year-old underwent emergency surgery at Stanford University's Cancer Center. Doctors discovered his disease had spread, and part of his stomach had to be removed. *** "It was a setback," said the friend. "Patrick told his family he's not giving up, but he wanted to make sure everything was in place in the event his health began to fail quickly and he didn't have time to take care of things before he died." Despite the grim prognosis, Patrick is handling his condition better than almost everyone around him, says the friend, according to the Enquirer report. "He is fighting for his life, but at the same time down-to-earth and practical."
