Is he Rodney King or Cedric Benson? Chicago Bears RB Cedric Benson was popped for boating last weekend and police allege that he was intoxicated and belligerent during the bust. He says they were abusive. Cedric Benson was in Texas when police claim that he operated a boat while intoxicated and then would later resist arrest. He says no way.
"He denies that he was intoxicated," attorney Brian Carney told reporters on Monday. "He denies that he resisted arrest." Cops say that he appeared drunk when an officer stopped him while boating last weekend, with bloodshot eyes, a "strong" alcohol odor and slurred speech, a police report said. *** The police boarded the boat and after examining what was going on decided that they wanted Benson to take sobriety test. According to the Associated press report he refused and police claim they could not get him to cooperate at all. At one point they even had to use pepper spray on the NFL running back. After he was sprayer he began screaming for hos mother, the report notes. Cops would later use water to wash away the pepper spray from Benson's face. His attorney didn't like that move either. "They might as well have been waterboarding him," Carney said.
