It's tough being a kid these days. A tool called ParentConnect is making it easier for parents and schools to work more and more closely to monitor their children and work together to ensure each child is getting the attention and help needed to succeed in school. basically it keeps the parents plugged in and all they have to do is log on to monitor the grades of their kids.
Online Monitoring of Kids: ParentConnect and Grades
ParentConnect gives parents direct access to their child's school records like class attendance, missed assignments and grades. One parent said of the site: "I can go on a daily basis, which I do, and see in a real time fashion. 'What is going on', 'were they in class number one', 'did the homework go from backpack to teacher's hand?' It's about accountability for me."

One report notes it this way, "While children go to school, possibly without having done their homework, and fail or suffering their classes, parents are completely oblivious until they get a report card. Well, now, there's a way you'll be able to check on them - everyday, even - to see if they are handing in their assignments or passing their classes well before you're finally sent a report card."
Parents can use the software by logging on at any time. You can even get updates via cell phone to keep an eye on the kids. This seems like a good tool for parents to monitor the kids school work, but it might cause some headaches for some students that used to be able to slide by while their parents were clueless.
