Chris Farley stars in a DirecTV ad from one of his classic films "Tommy Boy" with pal David Spade.  Is it too soon seems to be the constant topic of discussion and many say Spade is cashing in on his dead buddy.

The scene from the film is one of the classics and if you have seen the entire film it is impossible not top chuckle at “fat guy in a little coat.”

E! Online quotes Spade as the actor had to defend himself over the charges he is cashing in on his friend and comedic partner.  For the record, Farley passed away one week before Christmas almost twelve years ago on December 18, 1997.

Spade says:

"When DirecTV came to me and the Farley family with this idea about Tommy Boy, we talked and thought it would be a cool way to remind people just how funny Chris was," Spade tells Asylum via his publicist. "It is a clever homage to my friend and a movie that we loved doing."

TV Squad calls it a “Worst commercial of the year nominee” and muses that it isn’t funny, clever or original.  See the video here - is it a big deal?
