Jackie Standley, the mother of New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain, faces up to 20 years in prison on a felony drug-sale charge. The Associated Press cites a local report from the Lincoln Journal Star and notes that newspaper reported on Tuesday that Standley pleaded no contest to delivery of a controlled substance in Lincoln, Neb.

The New York Yankees hold a 3-2 lead over the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2009 World Series.

According to an online bio at WiKi, "Chamberlain's parents, Harlan Chamberlain and Jackie Standley, were never married and split up when Joba was 18 months old. The entry cites another report that claims Standley began abusing drugs when Joba was 4 or 5 and says that "she and Joba currently speak to each other only rarely".

1010 Wins reports, "Lincoln police say the 44-year-old Standley was arrested in May after selling a gram of methamphetamine to an undercover officer at her Lincoln apartment."

Chamberlain said earlier when he learned of the arrest, "You've only got one mom, man, and you've got to be thankful for her." Chamberlain grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and played college baseball for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
