Steve Martin & Alec Baldwin to Host Oscars - 2010 Academy Awards

Alec Baldwin will share Oscars hosting duty with Steve Martin next year, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announced. The surprise announcement comes on the heels of an indication from Hugh Jackman that he would not be hosting the show for a second year running.

Baldwin and Martin, who has hosted the show before, will co-host the 82nd Academy Awards in 2010. The Academy in a statement said: "We think the team of Steve and Alec are the perfect pair of hosts for the Oscars.

Steve will bring the experience of having hosted the show in the past and Alec will be a completely fresh personality for this event."

Martin, whose Oscars hosting turn was for the 73rd and 75th awards shows, said: "I am happy to co-host the Oscars with my enemy Alec Baldwin." 30 Rock star Baldwin, meanwhile, said: "I don't play the banjo but I'm thrilled to be hosting the Oscars – it's the opportunity of a lifetime."
