Diva! Ashlee Simpson & Castmates on Melrose Place: Sister Jessica Furious

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz was reportedly booted off the TV show Melrose Place because she was a "total diva" on set. The 25-year-old actress played the role of Violet Foster in the first season of the remade TV series.

However, producers axed her character and claimed it was due to storylines in the show. But a source said: "Ashlee was kicked off Melrose Place because she was a total diva on set, late all the time, and deeply disliked by fellow cast members. "It created a lot of discord among the cast."

Earlier Jessica Simpson angrily called TV’s Melrose Place “crap” a week after the show fired her sister Ashlee. Ashlee was dropped from the show despite being tied to an ongoing story line about the death of a key character. Producers reportedly want to take the show in a lighter, sexier direction - one not including Ashlee.

"Melrose" role had "run out." Ashlee's last episode will air in January. "She [Ashlee] was a regular on the show for the pilot plus the first 12 episodes and is not continuing on the series beyond that," said CW senior VP Paul McGuire. A show insider told Us magazine last week that producers just didn't like Ashlee's acting.

"They hired her because they needed a good name to help create buzz," a show source told the mag. "But she was embarrassingly bad. Producers cut her down as much as possible."
