Northwest Pilots Appeal Decision Revoking Their Licenses by FAA

The two Northwest pilots that overshot their destination by 150 miles were punished by the Federal Aviation Administration and their licenses were revoked. According to a CNN report, the FAA said the pilots were "extremely reckless" with their actions and endangered the public with their mistake and that was enough for the ban. Now Timothy B. Cheney, 53, and First Officer Richard I. Cole, 54 are appealing the decision.

According to CNN.Com: "Two Northwest Airlines pilots who overshot the Minneapolis, Minnesota, airport are appealing a decision to revoke their licenses, a National Transportation Safety Board spokesman said Thursday.
NTSB spokesman Keith Holloway said both pilots filed appeals against the Federal Aviation Administration's decision to revoke their licenses.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the pilots had violated numerous regulations, including failing to comply with air traffic control instructions and clearances and operating carelessly and recklessly.
The pilots claimed they lost track of time while working on their laptop computers. According to a CBS News report, appeals typically are heard by an administrative law judge with the board within 120 days.
