A politician weighed into a media-generated controversy over Britney Spears miming her act while on tour in Australia on its second day. The morning after Spears touched down at a Sydney airport for the Circus tour and was whisked off in a private jet to the annoyance of fans and media, a daily newspaper made her "lip-syncing" its lead story.

Next, the state of New South Wales's Minister for Fair Trading offered the solution as disclaimers on tickets to show parts of concerts were pre-recorded. Virginia Judge said Australians would not tolerate a Mickey Mouse performance, referring to Spears's past as a Mouseketeer.

She said:"Let's be clear - live means live. If you are spending up to $200 Australian dollars [$182], I think you deserve better than a film clip." Spears went straight to Perth to kick off her tour, for which some concertgoers have shelled out A $1,500.

Judge said she had nothing against Spears, but felt that concertgoers should be told if musicians were singing live.
