The battle for leading hunk for New Moon is off to a grand start as Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson begin to share the spotlight. Lautner has an increased role in the New Moon movie that opens this month and has been gaining attention for his physique improvement since Twilight, the first film of the series.

Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson says he doesn't need to flash his six-pack to get attention. "I don't walk around with my shirt off all the time!" he joked, poking fun at co-star Taylor Lautner. "It's like driving a fancy car - you're insecure about something."

Pattinson, who plays vampire hunk Edward, said of New Moon: "It's my favorite book. I really connected to [it] really quickly. It think it's an improvement [on Twilight]. It was nice not being the lead."

Pattinson also revealed how one of the many rumours that fly around about him scared his mother back in England. "I had a heroin overdose in New York, that was an exciting one for my mother," he said of the false report. "I'd been working so much, I didn't answer the phone. I'm so ignorant. I don't think it had set in that anyone read [the tabloids]."
