His civil spouse, David Furnish, had said Sir Elton was fine and would be released within two to three days. But no reports to update his condition were made available through the week.

His spokesman, Gary Farrow, said Sir Elton was at home on Friday and was feeling fine. Farrow said Sir Elton was discharged from the hospital early on Thursday. Sir Elton, who canceled some UK performance dates and postponed others in North America, would be resuming his suspended tour, starting with a gig with Billy Joel in Oakland near San Francisco on November 14.

Friend Elizabeth Hurley (pictured) early this week said: "He's great, I spoke to David Furnish, his partner, and he's doing great. I think he’ll be out of hospital in a few days."

Hurley regards Sir Elton as one of her best friends. The superstar gave her away at her wedding to businessman Arun Nayar in 2007. But she said of learning of his illness: "I've been worried sick, but he’s absolutely fine, he’s as strong as an ox and fighting everything off."
