Darius Rucker, former front man for Hootie and the Blowfish scored New Artist of the Year award at the 2009 CMAs and young crossover star Taylor Swift dominated as many called it a changing of the guard from old to new at the Country Music Awards held in Nashville.

"I didn't think about being an African-American guy making a record," he mused. "I just thought I was a guy. I'm proud to be that guy who has taken where Charley Pride left out and make Country Music people want to listen to. I'm just a musician. I just wanted to sing. That's what I do. All that other stuff is for you to talk about."
Country singer Taylor Swift celebrated with her band after winning four gongs at the recent Country Music Awardss. The 19-year-old picked up the award for Entertainer of the Year in at the CMAs in Nashville on November 11. She also won three other awards - Album of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year and Music Video of the Year.
Talking about how she was planning celebrate, she told People.com: "Tonight, I'm just gonna dance around with my band and my crew and my label. "I'm going to go hang out with my crew and my band and the people at my record label and we're going to hug and dance and jump up and down." Swift admitted that she will now be looking for another challenge to achieve in her career. She said: "I never imagined that the unattainable thing that I dreamed about could happen to me at 19.
"It's a lot to absorb. So now the next challenge is to find the next challenge." The country singer now also has to find somewhere to put her growing list of awards. She said: "I got my first place, so I'm going to put these someplace very, very centrally located! I'm not quite sure where. "I might have to put up some shelves."
