The Walk of Fame also includes individual stars for the drummer’s former Beatles bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison. The Beatles as a group were given a star in 1998.
Talking outside the Capitol Records building, Starr said: "This is the start of the next 50 years of stars. I'm proud to be the first one. "It's cool to get one at night. I don't know about you, but where I live, the stars come out at night."

More...In an earlier interview, Starr has said he doesn't mind turning 70 as he feels he can 'handle' life better as he gets older. The 69-year-old will turn 70 in July but will be on tour with his All-Starr Band at the time.
Talking of his milestone birthday, he said: "Seventy is not as big as 40 was. Forty was 'Oh God, 40!' There's that damn song, Life Begins At 40. No, it's not so big any more. "I am nearly 70 and I'd love to be nearly 40 but that's never going to happen. The older I get, the more I'm learning to handle life. Being on this quest for a long time, it's all about finding yourself. "For me, God is in my life. I think the search has been on since the Sixties. I stepped off the path for many years and found my way [back] on to it, thank God."
