Singer Rihanna is set to star in her first film. The star's rep has confirmed that the Barbadian beauty will appear in Battleship - a science-fiction film about a set of naval ships that protect earth from aliens.

The film, which is directed by Peter Berg, will also star Swedish hunk Alexander Skarsgard and Taylor Kitsch. Variety has reported that Battleship is based on the Hasbro board game and is scheduled to be released in May 2012.

The Rude Boy star, 22, said to UK newspaper Daily Record: "A collaboration between Gaga and myself would be really cool because we do a similar type of music and we both really love fashion.

"I'm sure it would be a very hot and sexy video. I would love to collaborate with her. Who wouldn't?"
