Adoption Trouble, Quick Wedding for Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt?

Brad Pitt will face a difficult time adopting Angelina Jolie's adorable children Maddox, 4 and Baby Zahara, 10 months.  According to adoption experts an unmarried Pitt and Jolie is not the easiest method of adoption in the California courts.

Quick Wedding?
Quick Wedding?

So - now many gossips are speculating a quickie wedding.

Here are the hoops Mr. Pitt will have to jump through if he stays unmarried to become the legal Dad.  In Los Angeles County, the fees for a step-parent adoption are $775, and the process probably would take three to six months, Baum says.

But with Pitt filing as a second parent, the star can expect to pay a home-study fee of $2,950 and submit to far more scrutiny, according to the USA Today report.

Money is no object, so the real problem is patience and if the couple are willing to wait.

David Baum, president of the Academy of California Adoption Lawyers says Pitt shouldn't expect star treatment. "It isn't about how famous you are or how much money you have," Baum says.

The county also will seek letters of reference, which will remain confidential to protect the children, as do the home-visit reports.

Maybe he can get a letter of reference from Jennifer?  Sorry - couldn't resist.

It's still hard to believe that the couple's numerous attorneys didn't warn them of the delay.  It's more likely that they are indeed ready for the long haul of making Brad the legal dad than sprinting to an altar.

But with this pair - anything is possible.
