Then again Jen is rumored to be phone pals with just about everyone.
But not so fast, Jen denies it and that means Jen and Jess have sparked a tabloid 'smackdown.'
No – not on each other, between the tabloids, according to Slate's Ben Wasserstein.
In his column he notes that an "intra-company smackdown of sorts took place over seperate stories that were published and that 'In Touch Weekly' basically says that its sister publication, 'Life & Style,' made up a story."

More than a month ago, L & S published a piece claiming that Jessica Simpson has been talking on the phone with Jennifer Aniston about her marital problems.
In Touch refrains from naming Life & Style, referring only to "one magazine" that printed the report, and writing, "Jennifer herself recently shot down the rumors, saying that she doesn't even know Jessica."
