Nick Lachey on Jessica Simpson: 'I've Never Been More Afraid'

Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson spent their first Valentine's Day apart in some time and a report notes that Nick is finally starting to speak out on Jessica Simpson and the relationship.

He says, "He's never been more afraid."

He was spilling the dirt to Access' Hollywood's Shaun Robinson as he hosted the 2006 Cosmopolitan "Fun and Fearless Awards" in Hollywood, where Nick Lachey was honored and talking about his split from Jessica Simpson.

When he accepted his "Sizzling Singer Turned Actor Turned Sportscaster" award, Nick did not avoid talking about his split with Jess.

"I'm really intrigued by this book – "It's Called a Breakup Because It's Broken," Nick joked upon accepting his award.

"I got to uh, I wish I would have read that a few years ago! No, in all honesty, it is a little ironic to receive the "Fun and Fearless Award" right now because in some ways, I feel like at this point in my life, I've never been more afraid."

Nick has landed on his feet quite nicely, but no matter how good of a public front the singer/actor displays, his break up does seem to be having an impact.
