Britney Spears is in the midst of recording her next album, which could surface later this year. And she told People that her new music could reinvigorate the current pop scene.

| Can Brit Make It Back? |
"(Pop Music has) been boring," she said. "Nothing's been wow to me."
Jefferson Reid gives this account:

Some people may want some sort of rebate from Britney Spears, after they read what she says in People.
"I found out after the baby, that I can sing." Should she have maybe investigated that before she sold umpteen million CDs? Well, better late than never. And on that front, the mag's interview also catches the Oopster in a thoughtful mode about the recent infant-car-seat international crisis.
"I love my baby more than anything," she says. "And as unfortunate an experience as this has been for me and my family, if it brings more attention to child safety, then I fully support that."
Like the highway patrol, we're inclined to let her slide with a stern warning on this one.
Brit's may deserve a spot in the child-endangerment hall of fame, but she's not on the A-list. She isn't dangling the kid out a hotel window or using him for crocodile bait. So, relatively speaking, she's a model parent.

Very true.
And one more question - does pop music need saving?
