Reese Witherspoon & Ryan Phillippe: Marriage in Crisis?

Hollywood darling Reese Witherspoon received her much deserved Oscar on Sunday night and has taken over as Hollywood's leading lady.

The Best Actress Academy Award winner should be on top of the world - but a report set for publication says the beautiful blonde may be in a wedding crisis with hubby Ryan Phillippe.

Life & Style will report in Friday's edition that as the couple entered the Vanity Fair Oscar party on March 5, Reese, 29, looked like a prom queen - but hubby Ryan Phillippe, 31, hardly looked her king. 

In fact, witnesses tell the weekly that Ryan appeared he didn’t want to be anywhere near his wife of six years.

As Reese made the rounds, Ryan sulked alone, the report details.  “He sat by himself looking pretty resentful,” says a partygoer.  Marital problems aren’t new for this pair, who admitted to seeking marriage counseling in 2002.  Lately, they’ve played the happy couple at pre-Oscar events, but on the night of the Academy Awards, it was clear that their relationship is still on the rocks

She was even overheard asking at the Vanity Fair party, "Did I thank Ryan (during the acceptance speech) “He’s so easy to forget most of the time!”

Reps denied the account.  “They are completely happy, as everyone saw on the Oscars broadcast,” says Reese’s rep, Cindy Guagenti.

But later that night, again at the Vanity Fair party, “He looked at her Oscar and said ‘I’ve finally been replaced, phew!’” a partygoer told Life & Style. 

Could this actually end the couple's marriage?  One Reese friend cited by the magazine is clear:

“Unfortunately,” says the friend, “the biggest night of her life might have sounded the death knell for her marriage.”
