New Orleans Mayor: Drug Addicts Wreaking Havoc After Katrina

Hurricane Katrina has not only devastated the Gulf Coast but has also brought out fingers pointing at fingers pointing at the government.  Watching the photos of the aftermath of Katrina in New Orleans, it's clear that a lot of blame goes straight to many of those that remain in New Orleans creating havoc and breaking the law at will.

The destruction after Katrina that is caused by humans is probably going to be staggering.  "This is a scary place to be right now," Steve Harrigan of Fox News said from his vantage point in New Orleans. Katrina has passed, now the fear is from the criminals that create chaos.

Mayor is "pissed"

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin went on WWL Radio Thursday night and spread the blame around from the feds to the drug addicted criminals wandering the streets.

The feds "don't have a clue what's going on." He added, "Excuse my French -- everybody in America -- but I am pissed."

Nagin said that there are many drug addicts who are searching for a fix. He said that's why they are breaking into drug stores and hospitals.

"What you are seeing is drug-starving crazy addicts that are wreaking havoc and we don't have the manpower that we can deal with it," Nagin said.

"Get off your asses and let's do something and let's fix the biggest goddamn crisis in the history of this country," Nagin said. "People are dying. They don't have homes, they don't have jobs. The city of New Orleans will never be the same. And it's time."

It's really desperate and the failures go from the top to the bottom of the bowl that used to house the city of New Orleans.  Until the drug addicts and general criminals are corralled, arrested and incarcerated, it's going to be nearly impossible to form a successful rescue and recovery.

A convoy of supplies is expected at the Convention Center within a few hours, it will likely be an ugly scene when it arrives.
