American Idol: It's Now Taylor Hicks Contest To Lose

The looks on the faces of Katharine McPhee and rocker Chris Daughtry were priceless.  The same look was on the faces of the judges when it was announced that rocker Chris was done on American Idol were as well on the Wednesday night elimination show.

Simon was dumbfounded and I'm certain his opinion of American Idol voters took a big dive.  The realization for Simon and everyone else now sets in - it appears this is Taylor Hicks contest to lose.

And with his rabid fan base - he likely won't. 

But as American Idol eliminates contestants that many of the fans favor - others will latch on to a new contestant.  When Kellie Pickler was dumped some of her fans began voting for Katharine.  When Paris was dumped some of her fans moved to Elliott Yamin.

But apparently few moved to Chris Daughtry.

But where will Chris voters now turn?  Many may likely tune out, but the majority will stay and I'm guessing they move to Taylor Hicks.  He's the only finalist left standing that even remotely resembles belting out rock.

That's even more strength for Taylor.

Katharine and Elliot got their boosts from other contestants but now their fan base is solidified as few that were fans of Chris - who really should have won this thing - will take the leap over to Elliott or Katharine.

And that leaves Taylor Hicks sitting pretty good.
