Nick Lachey Better Off Without Jessica Simpson?

Before Jessica Simpson, Nick Lachey was a bit of a star, a boy bander on his way to mediocrity, but still he was much more well known than his bride to be. 

Without Jess - Nick Has a Leg Up

Then once they were married and once they decided to put their entire lives on Reality TV, Jess took over and Nick's star faded.  Is Nick better off without Jess? 

Maybe - without Jessica his new CD is selling pretty well.

Now that Nick Lachey has separated from Jessica Simpson, his career is taking off! Lachey’s second album, What’s Left of Me, is No. 2 on the Billboard charts right now and has sold more than 172,000 copies (topping Simpson’s single-week record of 160,000 copies for her album In This Skin.)
 
Interestingly, his 2003 solo debut album, SoulO, crashed and burned at No. 51 on US charts, despite his newfound popularity on MTV’s Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica.

Meanwhile, his sitcom pilot for the new CW network, She Said, He Said, is being strongly considered for midseason replacement at upfronts this week.
