Jay Leno should have quite the time on Wednesday.  Leno, the host of the Tonight Show, will be taping a show that has fireworks written all over it.  The guests are scheduled to be left winger George Carlin and right winger and bomb thrower Ann Coulter.

This has brawl written all over it.

The Associated Press notes that Coulter, the acid-tongued conservative with a new book out, and Carlin, the quick-witted, anti-establishment comedian who's in the voice cast for the new animated film "Cars," were booked at separate times for the NBC late-nighter, a spokeswoman said Monday.

Good book by someone.

Coulter has been under fire for her recent comments on the Today Show where she tried to defend her comment that she made regarding four 9/11 widows where she wrote in her new best seller, "Godless: The Church of Liberalism, “I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ deaths so much.

She has been criticized from both sides of the political aisle for the exchange with Matt Lauer that exposed the quote to the mass media.

Cliff Kincaid offered this criticism of Coulter in a column published by The National Ledger:

In the controversy over Ann Coulter’s comments about the group of 9/11 widows, there is one critical question, from the point of view of ensuring standards of accuracy in the media. How does Coulter know it to be true that, “I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ deaths so much.” There is no evidence whatsoever that those women enjoyed their husbands’ deaths, and Coulter offers none.

The only “evidence” for this preposterous and hurtful claim is that the women became activists and sought the media spotlight and took a political position at odds with that of Coulter.

How will Carlin handle the showdown?  Best guess is that Carlin and Coulter (if they appear together at all) will both be bombastic.

Have fun Jay Leno.
