A report referenced in the NY Post claims that Justin Timberlake and longtime gal Cameron Diaz have split.  The reason - according to veteran gossip Janet Charlton - is because Cam is "too clingy" and Justin wants to sow his wild oats.

Charlton says JT made his decision after he and his pals went on a stag weekend to Las Vegas and Cameron "went chasing after him. She was just too clingy." Diaz, said to be "devastated," (but) has had bad luck before, Charlton writes.

Her past flames include Matt Dillon and Jared Leto.

Let the Justin and Britney speculation begin.  Various reports over the years have claimed Justin and Cam were finished before - and so far - all have proven to be false.

But - according to Charlton - this time it's over.

On her new blog Janet claims this time the split really happened. Both parties (Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz) want to keep it quiet - they don't want to make a big deal out of such a sensitive issue. What happened is that Justin is poised to leave on a world tour and he wants to be free, she writes.

Justin and Cameron figured the fact that they're currently separated geographically would keep their bust-up a secret for awhile.

Will this one play out as reported - we'll have to wait and see.

Cue the rep ™:  So - far no comment, but one would assume since the item found it's way into Page Six one will be forthcoming.

Janet's new blog is here.
