Hillary Clinton Fakes Southern Accent: Mocks South at Church Rally

New York Senator Hillary Clinton felt so insecure about her trip to the American south this weekend that she dusted off hubby Bill Clinton and dragged the former president along for some very important support.  While it seems fairly obvious that any Hillary strategy in a 2008 general election will write off the south, she seems quite concerned about Barack Obama and his recent surge.

Even though it is seriously early, Clinton's numbers with Democrat voters are falling and Obama is closing the gap.  Newsbusters reports that Andrea Mitchell, while narrating the segment on the political duel between Obama and Hillary in Selma, Alabama this weekend portrayed Obama as having authentic appeal, while picturing Hillary resorting to heavy-handed political tactics.

But that heavy hand turned to flat out mocking with part of her speech that has been placed online.  Clinton, once a resident of the Governor's mansion in Arkansas, tried to fake a southern accent and it came across as a cheap and nasty ploy.  There is but a clip online, and one can expect her lampooning the south will be skipped by any of the networks, but she is apparently quoting from the old Gospel Hymm  'I Don't Feel Noways Tired.'

Except Hillary mocks it up with the fake drawl that came across like this: “Aww don’t feel noways tired. I’ve come too faarrr from where I started frum…Aww culd have listened all day luung."

What a sad commentary on the woman that wishes to be president.  While Bill Clinton could pull this off as he still has a bit of his accent, Hillary sounds like a really horrific cartoon character making fun of the South.  If she is this panicked and ridiculous with a slight Barack bump how awful will she turn if she ever falls behind?

I really hope that the entire clip emerges at some point, the small piece that has been posted is here
