Britney Spears & American Idol Castoff Sanjaya Malakar to Team Up?

They may be America's most unlikely pair.  But a report says that just dumped American idol castoff Sanjaya Malakar and pop tart Britney Spears may team up.  Is it love, romance or just a fling.  Hey - Sanjaya is but seventeen, it is none of the above.  So it looks as it may be a 'duet.'  According to a report set for publication in this week's 'Star Magazine' Britney loves Sanjaya.  "Britney started watching American Idol when she was in rehab," a source tells the Star.  "She became a huge Sanjaya fan and thinks the two of them can make beautiful music together.

After his boot from the show, Sanjaya will have plenty of time and Britney is looking hard at any way to make a comeback.  The report claims she wants to take advantage of his huge pre-teen fan base.

"Britney wants to cash in on some of the Sanjaya mania because he is getting so much attention right now she feels that if the two of them record a record together it will help get her back on the chars, the chatty insider dishes to the weekly entertainment magazine.  The report claims she has asked her agents to contact Malakar.

Of course, there's that whole pesky idol contract she would have to work around.  But the insider says she hopes that Sanjaya is so desperate for fame that he can somehow make it happen.  Would they make a good pair?
