The 37-year old beauty looked weak with her collarbones protruding and looking painfully thin, the Lord Of The Rings star was barely recognisable as she walked down the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the UK Daily Mail reported.

Blanchett’s emaciated appearance caused eyebrows to raise as she strutted the catwalk yesterday, prompting gossip mongers to suggest the A-list star had succumbed to the Hollywood curse of anorexia, reported the West Australian.

While many are concerned, it appears there is a logical reason for her skeletor-like appearance. Reports claim that her apparent transformation might be more in keeping with the actress' reputation for immersing herself into her roles.
Blanchett is reportedly working on a starring role in the new movie Cancer Vixen, based on the true story of author Marisa Acocella Marchetto’s battle with breast cancer.
