Harry Potter author JK Rowling has offered a staggering amount to a $3 million dollar reward fund for Madeleine McCann, a missing British girl. The British tabloid 'News of the World' reports that while the Harry Potter author asked for the precise sum to be kept secret, the donation is larger than the highest announced pledge of $495,000. During a family vacation, 11 days ago, the girl disappeared from a hotel room in a tiny Portugal resort town.

Her parents left her and her 2 year-old siblings alone while they went to a restaurant. Local authorities are still looking for her. The case has generated world wide concern including a televised plea by soccer star David Beckham, to dozens of volunteers joining in the search.
