American Idol Disaster: Melinda Doolittle Voted Off Idol

Call it an American Idol disaster as the elimination results are in and it's not pretty.  The three finalists came and sang as just like last season, American Idol will have a final without the best singer.  Melinda Doolittle has been eliminated and Jordin Sparks will take on beat boxer Blake Lewis for the crown of American Idol.  It really isn't a surprise as even though Melinda was the most talented, certainly she is far better than Blake, she just wasn't able to keep the votes.

Blake Lewis could actually win this thing, which might be the end of American Idol.  Ratings were down fifteen percent from last year for Tuesday's show and they will continue to fall. A Jordin Sparks win may be the only thing that can Save American Idol.  Last night on ‘American Idol,’ Jordin, Blake and Melinda each performed three songs chosen by the judges, producers and themselves, and Melinda went old school.  She was outstanding.

But it wasn't enough.  Don't worry, though Melinda Doolittle is no longer a back up singer.  She can bring it and deliver.  She will have a fantastic career ahead of her.  That said - I love American Idol and this season has been a severe disappointment.  Having a singer that still beat boxes in the finals is a big, big step back fore the contest and it may be time to review how votes are cast.

And obviously, as much as I'm turned off by Blake's poor performances, he has a career ahead of him as well.  But now, for the good of this show, let's hope voters deliver Jordin Sparks as season six's American Idol.
