Dave Navarro Jumps Into New New TV Arena With Internet Show

Dave Navarro, who has been at the forefront of reality television with his and former wife Carmen Electra's two MTV series and his CBS "Rock Star: INXS" show, is now throwing himself into the newer  new arena of Internet TV. He's just launched "Spread Entertainment: Live Thursdays" on ManiaTV.com, which he says is giving him "one of the best times I've ever had in a creative environment, because I have complete control and there aren't any rules.

"I've been very involved in the Internet for years," notes Dave. "I wanted to do something where you click on a page and it doesn't have Lindsay or Paris or Britney. Let Perez Hilton do that. We're doing something different."

What he's doing is a talk and performance show from Hollywood's Dragonfly club that will include just about anything from "indie bands we want to promote" to "interactive elements -- viewer-submitted clips and Skype," he says, referring to Internet phone calls. "The interviews won't always be actors, actresses or musicians -- although there will be red carpet stuff. I have a lot of friends in that world. I might have doctors who treat people dealing with addiction, self-medication, cutting. As poignant and heartwarming as it might be, I might then take the camera into the next room to get a cocktail. We have girls serving drinks. We're truly making it up as we go along," says Navarro -- whose on-the-net language is most definitely not for the faint of heart, and certainly not for kids.

The club audiences so far have consisted of Navarro's friends and "a few die-hard fans." Of course, as word gets out, the line to get into his show is bound to grow -- and grow.

SOMETHING PERSONAL: With all the intensity and family inter-activity about her movie "Gracie," opening tomorrow (6/1), Elisabeth Shue acknowledges, "It wasn't without its conflict, that's for sure."

The film is drawn from the actress's own experience following the death of her brother William, who died after a fall when they were teens. It shows a 16-year-old girl picking up where her brother left off as a competitive soccer player. Shue's husband, Davis Guggenheim ("An Inconvenient Truth") directed, and her brother Andrew ("Melrose Place") coproduced and costars. Since Andrew has been a professional soccer player himself, Elisabeth notes, he was "obsessive about how real the soccer had to be. I was obsessive about making sure it was all about the actors. You take that and add some pressure of not enough money, too little time, great expectations and a personal story, and it's like, 'Whew, that's explosive!' But I think the conflict made the movie something we're proud of, because everyone was fighting for things they believed in."

The Oscar-nominated actress ("Leaving Las Vegas") admits, "I was most reluctant about doing this because of the fact that my brother is such a sacred part of my life. It's not anything that I would ever feel comfortable sharing with the world, in a way … Yet it's miraculous that the movie is going to keep him alive on some level and for other people to get to know what his spirit was like. They can see how a character like Gracie can go on with her life and do great things because of the love she had from her older brother. I feel happy that we put it out there because I hope it will inspire people to be as fierce."

BUT DOES SHE REMEMBER ANY OF IT?: It's been five years since Trishelle Cannatella became famous for the drunken debauchery she and her roommates were shown having on "The Real World: Las Vegas," so she must have been excited about a reunion, right? Wrong! In fact, Trishelle tells us she was the last of her cast mates to come on board when MTV proposed they move back into the Palms Casino for a two-week reunion. So why the reluctance? "I guess how I was portrayed the first time around. I was afraid of that," she responds. "You can make anyone look like anything whenever you put five months of filming into 31 episodes, which equals less than a day's worth of footage. Now it's only two weeks, and the more I thought about it, the more curious I became about what everyone else was doing," says Trishelle. "Plus, I know I'm a good person, so I figured why not put myself out there again because I'm proud of who I am now."

The new Trishelle has been living in Los Angeles pursuing acting, and she claims fans will be surprised to see how much she has changed. "I'm a young lady now, and I was a little girl five years ago. I used to bite my tongue a lot, and I was really scared to give an opinion, and now I'm a very strong person and I will let my opinion out there," she tells us. In the end, she says she was glad to be on board the show, which is currently airing on MTV. "I had much more fun this time around than the last."

WHEN IN ROME: "Dancing With the Stars: Rome, Italy" has been putting out feelers for an American star, familiar to the Italian audience and preferably with a dance background, to show up as a special guest for their edition of the popular dance competition show. Sounds like a sweet deal for the celeb who winds up with the gig, with all first-class accommodations in Rome for two weeks prior to, and through the duration of the shoot, which begins in September.
