Jessica Simpson is involved in what has been described as an on and off relationship with guitarist John Mayer.  For the most part he has been her only steady beau post divorce with Nick Lachey.  For the longest time Jess and nick fans desperately clung to hopes that the reality TV couple would reconcile.

An item from Star Magazine hints that now that Jessica Simpson is quasi- single, the blonde pop star may be open to reuniting with ex-hubby Nick Lachey.  The weekly magazine has a source that says "Maybe."  Really - at this late stage?

"There’s no question there’s still strong feelings between them - those were not erased when they signed their divorce papers," the pal told the magazine.  The report notes that it doesn’t help that Nick’s girlfriend Vanessa is mired in what they dubas "a career-threatening scandal," due to some shocking knife pictures of her that surfaced showing her playing with Lindsay Lohan.   Still - it seems like a long shot.
