Diane Feinstein Slams Conservative Radio: Wants Fairness Doctrine Back

U.S. Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-Calif., took a swipe at conservative talk radio on Fox News on Sunday  The liberal California senator went on the attack against fee speech and said Sunday she is "looking at" the possibility of reviving the fairness doctrine for U.S. broadcasters.

Asked if she supported a return of the doctrine, an FCC rule that required broadcasters to air both sides of controversial issues, she said "I'm looking at it, as a matter of fact. I do believe in fairness. I remember when there was a fairness doctrine, and I think there was much more serious correct reporting [sic] to people," she said, according to a partial transcript.

Speaking on "Fox News Sunday" with Sen. Trent Lott, R-Miss., she said talk radio in particular has presented a one-sided view of immigration reform legislation being considered by the Senate. U.S. talk radio is dominated by conservative voices.

Her answer - shut it down with boredom.  The Fairness Doctrine is the government rule that, before it was repealed in 1987, required broadcasters to present opposing viewpoints on controversial public issues.  It would only apply to radio, not TV networks that lean to the left in the US.
