Stephen Colbert is ready to run for president in 2008. "I have heard the call," Colbert says. "Nation, I shall seek the office of the president of the United States." This week he told viewers of Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report" that he's running as a "favorite son" candidate in both South Carolina primaries - Republican and Democratic. I this a stunt? Of course.

But to his credit, or discredit, Colbert is taking his plug-man-ship even further. Colbert's minions have already pursued the proper paperwork for him to try to run in both the Democratic and Republican presidency primaries in January 2008. "I am from South Carolina and I am for South Carolina and I defy any other candidate to pander more to the people of South Carolina, those beautiful, beautiful people," he said on "The Colbert Report."

Lynn Hayes charts the rise and the attempt to get Colbert on the ballot. She writes: "Stephen Colbert's astrological chart is a fascinating combination of extremely stressful planetary configurations combined with a series of harmonious ones indicating severe challenge in life combined with great ease and success. He was born with the Sun in Taurus in an exact opposition to Neptune, a signature of an individual who has an excess amount of creativity and a vivid imagination to the point where one's fantasy life (Neptune) can interfere with one's sense of reality (Sun)."
The full analysis is here and Hayes adds, "There can be a sense of a loss of self with this placement which is common in the charts of actors who utilize this quality to slip in and out of character. Many comedians have adopted alter egos (just watch Saturday Night Live for a few examples), but Colbert has adopted a duality of his own identity instead as an expression of this Sun/Neptune opposition."
