Howard K. Stern was declared the father of Anna Nicole Smith's daughter, Dannielynn.  After she passed, there was that whole legal battle that ensued with lots of court battles with what seemed like his one time nemesis Larry Birkhead that eventually wound up as Birkhead declared the daddy by a DNA test.

Now Larry and Howard are close and both are battling former talk show host Rita Cosby and fighting all sorts of charges that she made against them in a wild book titled "Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith's Death."  And to make matter worse, according to Us Weekly Magazine - he is broke.

The magazine reports in this week's print edition that things have gotten even harder for the embattled Howard K. Stern. Since the passing of his partner (and only client), Anna Nicole Smith, the attorney claims he's having trouble making ends meet. "I am basically broke," Stern, 38, tells Us. "There's this impression that I am somehow making money off of Anna's death. It couldn't be further from the truth."

Stern adds he is "juggling" more than a dozen related lawsuits and owes his parents "hundreds of thousands of dollars." As for the disturbing clown video circulating on the Internet? "That was an hour-long video that was stolen and cut down to less than a minute," he tells Us. "It was meant to make Anna and me look bad."
