The Ron Paul Iowa Conspiracy

I'm anxious for Ron Paul to do well in the Iowa Caucus.  He should have the ground game going in the state unless all of his detractors are correct and his supporters are spamming online polls and texting until their fingers bleed anytime there is a way to vote for Ron Paul.  Let's get one thing straight, Paul is not now nor will ever be a top tier candidate.  But he can make a difference with an Iowa boost and a respectable New Hampshire showing.

The two early states are the key for the Texas congressman.  His supporters have flooded the Internet with e-mails to family and friends asking that people look at his platform and listen to his ideas and they have littered lawns and street corners with signs asking people to place his name in search engines.  They have even donated enough money to put a blimp in the air for a while.  This is a good thing, it is a sorely needed part of the political process.

The Paul supporters are formidable at raising cash.  By this time tomorrow night we will know if they are able to translate that into votes on the ground in the frigid state of Iowa.  Personally, I was hoping for a good old-fashioned Midwest snowstorm, as I believed that would help Paul.  His supporters should have the mailman creed, neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow would keep them from the polls.  But alas, the weather calls for cold temperatures and sunny skies.

I'm guessing if things go south all the talk will be of a Ron Paul conspiracy as even though they don't like to hear it, many that are backing Dr. Paul are indeed conspiracy buffs.  Paul himself refused to buy into the big 9/11 conspiracy when he was interviewed by CNN's Glenn Beck and I'm guessing that was a big disappointment to many of his real fringe supporters.

But they deserve a voice in the political process as much as the next voter.  And soon they will have it.  As of right now polls are fairly meaningless, and besides many of them are historically inaccurate in Iowa.   But for Dr. Paul certainly the support will be there and it will be strong.  The question now is what kind of numbers will show up.

Many pundits have predicted an absolute disaster while others have tossed out a bone of a third place finish.  If that happens, that would keep the "Revolution" in full swing going into New Hampshire.
