Jeff Hardy is at the highest point in his career right now. The high flying WWE superstar will challenge Randy Orton for the WWE Title this Sunday at the world's most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, as part of the annual Royal Rumble pay per view event. For Hardy, who became a sensation in WWE as part of the Hardy Boyz tag team with brother Matt and Matt's girlfriend Lita, the chase for the singles title has been a ride the likes of which he has never experienced.

"This is one of the main events at the Royal Rumble, at Madison Square Garden. So naturally it's very nerve-wracking," Hardy told THE UK SUN, "But I'm going in prepared and confident, with an open mind and a good feeling. "I hope that on the night the fans will provide that adrenalin and really get me fired up to make something happen. There is a real good vibe backstage, I think everybody in the company is happy what I've done over the last few weeks and months.  I'm in the best spot I've ever been in and I just want to let that momentum grow."

Wrestling News Desk editor Matthew Cooper, whose site has covered Hardy's rise to the top of WWE, noted, "In World Wrestling Entertainment, they like to say that people need to step up and take advantage of opportunity. Jeff has done a masterful of steering clear of politics and has risen to new popularity heights with this latest push."

But Cooper also notes that "it takes two to tango, and Randy Orton has been a great heel throughout this storyline. Here's how you can tell Orton has been so good. Everyone is noticing Jeff, who is the babyface (hero). That's the mark of a great heel (villain)."

Hardy also had massive praise for Rey Mysterio, who will perform on the show in a match with Smackdown World Champion Edge. "If I win the title," Hardy stated, "my dream match would be against Rey Mysterio. I've never had the chance to work with him, so that would be cool ... I'm hoping our match can be as good as Edge v Mysterio, who are fighting for the WWE's other world title." Which means Jeff, much like everyone else in WWE, doesn't have any thoughts regarding the ECW World Title, which is presented as an inferior championship. Chavo Guerrero, with help from Edge, defeated CM Punk for the title on Tuesday's edition of ECW on Sci Fi. No one cared. The show drew a  1.26 rating. The WWE's version of ECW, subject of a brutally honest recent Rob Van Dam interview, has killed the amazing equity that was left in that brand name.

Jeff Hardy, at 30 years old, is the challenger at Madison Square Garden this Sunday. He's wrestling for the WWE Championship in the most featured and anticipated singles match on the Royal Rumble pay per view.
Jeff Hardy has indeed stepped up!
