How sick is Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus and will she be able to make the CMT Awards in Nashville on Monday night? According to a report from Splash News Online, a celebrity photo agency, the usually very paparazzi friendly Miley Cyrus had to ignore their snappers this weekend as she’s come down with a severe case of strep throat.

The always polite and cordial Tish Cyrus (that would be Miley's mother) even apologized to the waiting crowd of photographers that were gathered to see her off on her private jet and then a doctor came in to check out the fifteen-year old starlet before her trip.

The Country Music Television Awards is scheduled to air on Monday night at 8:00 pmET/CT on CMT. This year's show promises to be the most star-studded yet, with dad Billy Ray Cyrus and our favorite little sick teen Miley Cyrus hosting. Performers include Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and Toby Keith.
The event is equal parts awards show, concert and party – a fan-fueled celebration with boldface names as eclectic as Jeff Foxworthy, William Shatner, Maya Angelou, Russell Crowe, Martin Scorsese, Jon Bon Jovi, Sissy Spacek and, of course, an A-list of country stars. Country Music Television’s (CMT) Music Awards night, in its seventh year, has emerged as a “must see” for country fans, if just for its unpredictability and homespun humor.

And it’s country music fans who vote for winners - giving them a “final say” that further serves as a direct connect to the broadcast. “Other awards shows like the Oscars and the Emmys are filled with industry types,” says Brian Philips, executive vice president and general manager of CMT.
“With our awards, there isn’t any layer in between the fans and the winners. There’s no guild or association voting here.”
