What happens when you are tapped in an elevator for almost two days?  Fortunately in this day and age we get to see as there are always cameras rolling.  A man named Nicholas White, or Nick White went down an elevator to the bottom of a building to go for a cigarette break - but little did he know he'd be spending a very long time trapped in an elevator.

The stunning thing is how old the story is. White briefly left his office in Midtown on the night of October 15, 1999. yes nearly nine years ago.  While riding an express elevator back up the 43rd floor, it stopped and did not move again for 41 hours.

So how does something like this finally make its way online to the World Wide Web over eight years later?  In an effort to raise awareness the video was first shown on The New Yorker magazine's website for an article on elevator safety.

White tried everything but none of it worked.  The video is here and he was eventually rescued.   Oh and after that he got an attorney.  According to a report from NY 1, White sued the managers of the building, and settled for an undisclosed amount.
