The results are in for American idol and David Cook is the winner and David Archuleta was the runner up for season seven of the reality TV show.  But what about that finals show?  Was it two good hours of television or just three good minutes at the end.  One thing is certain, there were endless commercials and many included the American Idol contestants including one where Archuleta and cook played Tom Cruise in their undies in a scene from "Risky Business."

The commercial was the now infamous scene of Tom Cruise dancing in his underwear to the tune of "Old Time Rock and Roll" by music legend Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band.  Cruise pulled his moves off in the 1983 hit film "Risky Business" that starred Cruise and then smoking hot Rebecca De Mornay.

The ad was for "Guitar hero" a blast of a video game that allows users to strum chords and note from songs ona little plastic guitar.  The video shows both contestants in their underwear (Cook went with the 1983 like Cruise briefs while Archuleta went conservative with some boxers).  Hey, the kid in only seventeen.

Michael K has the clips here and he muses, "More American Idol nonsense. It won't go away!!! Last night's finale was like one, long commercial. They pushed everything from that lame Mike Myers movie to Guitar Hero."  The show is just too long on the last night, but it is a business and I thought the Tom Cruise commercials were clever.
