When Lindsay Lohan posed topless in Vanity Fair with her Marilyn Monroe imitation she once again sprung to the top of the heap for pop culture and she was back on top with everyone showing interest in the sexy pictures and everyone wanted to get a look at a topless Lindsay Lohan. But the buzz was short lived. So what went wrong?

Two years ago Lindsay Lohan could just roll out of the house and tool around Los Angeles, perhaps make a visit to the Ivy and she would have an army of photographers following her around and she would be the lead on the nightly entertainment television shows and all of the electronic media would cover her every move.

Just a year or so ago, she was all over the news when it was reported that there was sex video about to emerge starring Lindsay with then boyfriend Calum Best. The clip never was shot, according to Lindsay, and it certainly never has been broadcast but it still put Lindsay on top and she was famous for being a young wild Hollywood starlet. Even those famous knife photos with Nick Lachey gal Vanessa Minillo where they playfully posed with knives at each other's breasts (see here, the first link is safe) kept Lindsay near the top of the entertainment media.

But with several bad choices for films, two arrests and a long rehab stint, some appear to have lost interest in LiLo. Even her alleged lesbian romance with her constant companion Samantha Ronson hasn't given Lohan the jolt she needs to get back on top of the celebrity entertainment media. Will it take another stripped down topless photo spread as a last resort to get Lindsay attention? It might, and she may want to do it when she has a decent film ready to be released.
