Courteney Cox Signs On for TV Series "Scrubs"

Courteney Cox has signed up to star on the NBC hit TV show "Scrubs" and will return to network television.  The 44-year-old actress - who shot to fame playing Monica Geller on the one-time dominant sitcom 'Friends' (The show ran from 1994 to 2004) will reportedly star as the Chief of Medicine at the Sacred Heart Hospital.  It's not a permanent gig,  Cox will only appear in three episodes of the medical comedy.

Courteney's character will "ruffle feathers" of the cast, including Zach Braff, according to Entertainment Weekly magazine.  The report comes just weeks after it was announced that Courteney's FX show "Dirt" on which she played tabloid magazine editor Lucy Spiller, has been cancelled after just two seasons.

The series, which followed the inner workings of trashy gossip magazine DirtNow, was scrapped following the writer's strike.  Cox announced the cancellation herself during an interview.  The numbers and ratings never climbed t what FX was looking for and the one episode that delivered big numbers needed an assists from Cox pal and BFF Jennifer Aniston.

Courteney is still working, even with all of those residuals coming in from the countless "Friends" reruns that air each day in syndication and one report notes that she can also soon be seen in comedy movie 'Bedtime Stories'.
