The Who: Roger Daltrey Says He And Pete Townshend Will Keep Making Music

After the many years of drama, trauma and "CSI" shows using their songs as themes, The Who lead singer Roger Daltrey tells us he and band mate Pete Townshend have a lot more music left in them. "As long as I can sing and he can play the guitar, we'll be doing this 'til we're 90. "As for right now I'm working on ideas for something I'm doing on my own," adds Roger. "With Peter, you never know what he's writing. It might be a book, it might be an opera, it might be a Who album, but the main thing is, he's writing. That's the important thing."

Daltrey and Townshend were in Los Angeles this past weekend at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion for VH1's third annual "Rock Honors" -- where the Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam, Incubus, Tenacious D and the Flaming Lips all paid tribute to the legendary, hugely influential British super group.

"It's a good feeling," says Townshend of the recognition. "I'm not big on honors, but this is a bit different because it's other musicians playing your stuff. It's a whole evening of music that I've primarily written, so for me as a writer that is a nice thing."
The show, which airs on Thursday night (7/17), also features appearances by David Duchovny, Rainn Wilson, Mila Kunis and Adam Sandler, who rocked out one of his infamous comedic songs on the electric guitar in honor of the band. Daltrey admits it would be even better if their late band mates Keith Moon and John Entwistle could be on stage with them "They are here tonight, though. They're here in spirit," he said. "Their echoes will be there in the music."
