Danity Kane's Aubrey O'Day Tones It Down, Debuts on Broadway

Pop sensation Aubrey O'Day has debuted on Broadway. The buxom blonde bombshell, who took out her hair extensions to play the role of uppity Amber von Tussle in "Hairspray" sees this as a new challenge for her to conquer in her life. The singer, who is BFF with porn legend Jenna Jameson, beamed, "I'm a good nervous. It's positive energy; it's not negative, but definitely I have butterflies in my tummy right now. I'm just very excited to go onstage tonight and be a little snotty brat."

She added, ""I am so excited for my opening night on Broadway," O'Day told reporters backstage on opening night over the weekend, "I've learned the part in two weeks, so it's been crazy, but such a beautiful experience and everyone has been so welcoming, and I just fit right in."

O'Day wasn't the only one excited: As soon as the curtains rose, the crowd came to life, but the moment the new castmember took the stage, the cheers rose about six octaves, which is probably due in part to the fact that the first eight rows were filled with 52 of her friends and family members. The sold-out crowd screamed as she made her way to center stage and exclaimed to the crowd in her high-pitched voice, "I'm Amber!"
"It's most important that all my best friends from childhood are here" O'Day said. "All my friends have come to see my rehearsals, and they are like, 'I can't believe you are finally on Broadway!' So, I'm more excited for them and how they will see me."

MTV reviewed her performance, saying O'Day hit every note and dance step during the two-and-a-half-hour show, giving Amber extra flare and sassiness. She seemed at ease and confident on stage while teaming up with her love interest in the play, fellow "Making the Band" alum Ashley Parker Angel, who plays Link.
It's a dramatic departure from her wanton sexual adventures lately, which she chronicled for a broadband television show that airs on Sun-TV in the UK, "The Heyman Hustle." On that program, shot at a nightclub in downtown NYC, O'Day bragged about her sexual conquest the night before (but wouldn't say who her lover was, just that he was male and fabulous), flirted with host Paul Heyman, grabbed singer Adina Howard's breast, and was filmed getting awfully cozy with supermodel Jaslene Gonzalez.
