Has Angelina Jolie finally made up with her father, Jon Voight? In 2002 Voight said that his daughter Angelina Jolie needed treatment for "serious mental problems" and that she wasn't responding to his attempts to get in touch with her because she knew he was "trying to reach her to get help." She cut off her father after those comments. Once Jolie hooked up with her current baby daddy Brad Pitt reports claimed that he was trying to get Jolie and dad back together.

If Brad is successful he might find himself on the short end of many political arguments. Jolie has penned a strong editorial earlier in the Washington Post that basically said that she (like Republican presumptive nominee John McCain) does not want to abandon Iraq.

Brad Pitt was one of the early Hollywood liberals on the Barack Obama bandwagon and there have been reports that he and Jolie have had some strong political discussions. But it appears Pitt has yet to sway Jolie to move over and surrender with the Obama plan. In fact, earlier she admitted that when discussing politics with staunch Hollywood Republican Clint Eastwood there was no reason for Obama or any other Democrat to count on her vote. Entertainment Weekly assumed that she was a Democrat and asked about debates with Eastwood and Joie over politics.

She responded, "Actually, we don't disagree as much as you'd think. I think people assume I'm a Democrat. But I'm registered independent and I'm still undecided. So I'm looking at McCain as well as Obama."

Now dad Jon Voight has also penned an editorial blasting Obama. He wrote in the New York Times, "If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way."

Us weekly magazine notes that Obama reportedly turned down an offer from Jolie's beau Brad Pitt to appear for the candidate. Good move by Obama, he would be wise to steer clear of Hollywood liberals like Pitt that preach conservation and fly on private planes while living in huge French estates that burn tons of energy. Will the presidential election be what unites Jolie and her estranged father?
