Is it splitsville for Major League Baseball player Jason Varitek and his wife Karen? The Boston Globe is reporting that the Red Sox captain and catcher is headed for divorce court and the report details that Jason and his wife Karen Varitek have now filed for divorce in Georgia, several reports from local Boston media details on Thursday.

The couple have been married for eleven years and were hitched in 1997 and they have three children. While this isn't nearly the buzz created by Alex Rodriguez and his wife Cynthia Rodriguez and the Madonna mess redone over and over it will certainly get the gossips in Boston talking.

So far there are no salacious details emerging as happened with the A-Rod vs. C-Rod with a touch of Madonna tossed in but certainly the reporters will now be digging as big time athletes now seem to quality as celebrities for tabloid fodder.
