Angelina Jolie is said to inspire many of the celebrities in Hollywood and that might include sexy and confident singer Shakira. While many have slammed Jolie and her baby daddy Brad Pitt for taking a king's ransom to allow their two new twins to be photographed for public consumption Angelina has always said that money will go to charity.

Did Angelina Jolie inspire Shakira? Likely no as Shakira has always looked out for others. But it is nice to know that Shakira is not just a pretty face in the music industry but a humanitarian who cares about the children worldwide and see her get the recognition she deserves for it.

Shakira received the ALMA award over the weekend for the humanitarian work she has been doing for Latin America's impoverished children. See several of the photos of the event here at Valley Pop from the ALMA Awards Show that was hosted in Pasadena, California over the weekend.

Shakira, who is involved in several foundations to improve the lives of children in Colombia and Latin America and is UNICEF goodwill ambassador, received the American Latino Media Arts awards from the hands of Eva Longoria, one of the stars of the ABC hit nighttime drama Desperate Housewives. Congrats Shakira!
