Last weekend was a very happy one for Portia de Rossi and her longtime love Ellen DeGeneres as they were finally able to get married thanks to the new laws in California. Joan Hyler is a rep for Portia de Rossi and she was in Southern California as well, specifically she was in Malibu on the night before the wedding when tragedy struck and she was hit by a car while trying to cross the Pacific Coast Highway.

For those that have never been to the coastal village of Malibu, it is very long town along the coast that has one main road running along the ocean called the Pacific Coast Highway.  It is a busy and dangerous road, especially for pedestrians trying to cross from the beach side back over to get to their car if it is parked on the other side of the highway.

That is what Joan Hyler was attempting to do last week when she was struck by a car and severely injured in the accident.  The accident happened on the night before the wedding and it was so serious that Hyler remains hospitalized but a report from Variety details that hospital officials say she has been has been upgraded to stable condition.

More here on the crash.  She is at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.   Variety notes that Joan Hyler Management reps a range of stars including Diane Lane, Eric McCormack, Alfred Molina and Amber Tamblyn.
