Earlier this week there was a rumor that spread all over the World Wide Web that claimed that country music singer Dolly Parton was dead. That exact phrase was typed into search engines everywhere and fan can rest easy, Dolly Parton is alive and well. For the country music legend it is the second Internet scandal she has survived this year.

Radio shock jock Howard Stern decided to have some fun at the expense of dolly and put together a parody in which the satellite radio host mashed up Parton quotes to make it sound as if the singer were spewing offensive and racist remarks. In a post on her official website, Parton is quoted as saying she has "never been so shocked, hurt and humiliated" in her life.

The audio from that wild tape is linked here. This latest Dolly Parton Internet scandal again had little to do with Dolly, other than using her name. Her rep had to actually come out and make a statement as the "Dolly Parton Dead" hoax made it's way around the country and the world and burned up lots of bandwidth.
She is alive and feeling good her rep told reporters in a statement. No one is absolutely certain where the reports came from but some claimed it was from an "erroneous announcement at a high school football game." Ah - the power of the Internet.
