Michael Phelps got the world's attention when he went to Beijing and took care of business at the 2008 Summer Olympics by winning gold medal after gold medal. That gave Michael Phelps the title of sports hero and with that comes the pop culture icon status that is granted stars of his stature and with that new pop culture fame, some serious romance rumors emerged with some pretty big names in Hollywood.

American Idol and country music star Carrie Underwood was said to have a little thing for Michael Phelps. Actress Lindsay Lohan and Michael Phelps played around and flirted back and forth with text messages. The there was the whole dust up with Playboy model and athlete Amanda Beard.
